About The Brewery

Slow Boat Brewery began in 2009 when two Americans, brewer Daniel Herbert and entrepreneur Chandler Jurinka, met and bonded over their shared longing for the beers they grew up drinking in the states. The two began writing plans for a brewery and spent the better part of two years mapping out their dreams to built one of Beijing’s first microbreweries. In the fall of 2011, Slow Boat Brewery rolled out their flagship beer, the Captain’s Pale Ale, and began distributing their brews throughout Beijing.
Today, Slow Boat Brewery has made 12 different beers and is on tap in Beijing and Shanghai’s finest restaurants, hotels, and bars. Among their beers, Slow Boat has four in their core production line that are produced all year long, and in addition, they’re always coming out with new seasonal and experimental beers to keep things more exciting.
The brewing facility is located in Changping district not far from the mountains that surround Beijing. The total footprint is approximately 1,000 sq. meters with an excellent source of fresh mountain water.
Slow Boat’s beer can be accurately described as “American style craft beer” and is brewed entirely by hand. Our beer is made in small batches using unhurried methods. It’s fresh and unpasteurized. No preservatives, no chemicals, just purely delicious craft beer.
